Active citizenship requires both active citizens and people who can organise participation.

The links below address both parts of this partnership, and the menu on the right has further links related to volunteering and participation.

If Your Organisations Seeks a Volunteer:

Do-It - is a National database of volunteering opportunities. Do-It accepts requests for volunteers. You may be asked to submit requests via a local volunteer bureau. Some of these may help, or they may only support their own projects. If you are a large enough organisation, you can become a recognized bureau and submit your own requests.

Islington Volunteer Centre (IVC) - finds your organisation the Volunteer(s) you need by promoting your opportunities widely, and advising the best-qualified Volunteer(s) to contact you.

IVAC Volunteer Support - can list your organisation among those already listed (see site) and has many links to other ways to get volunteers.

Volunteering Opportunities for Over 55's - are posted on the Council site and you could get your request listed there.

Community Service Volunteers - is the country's largest community volunteering organisation and can help you find the volunteers you need.

City University IVC - can place student volunteers in Islington and will help develop suitable projects to which they can assign volunteers.

London Metropolitan Univ. - actively promote volunteering to staff and students alike, and will work with you to to develop projects. Their site shows good examples of how they have worked with the local community in the past.

Islington Volunteering Association (IVA) - exists to provide a representative voice for volunteering within the borough via the Islington Community Network Committee (ICNC). It is chaired by IVC

Islington Volunteer Centre (IVC) - helps you to find the best Volunteering opportunity to suit your needs, skills and aspirations. IVC Advisors have hundreds of Volunteering vacancies available and can match you to the best ones. Extra support is available to groups who are under-represented in Volunteering via our innovative Projects.
