A swathe of Islington running from King's Cross through to Arsenal and onto Finsbury Park contains a range of businesses in key employment sectors providing 160,000 jobs.
It also faces high levels of deprivation and is the focus for major development proposals.
Because of its strategic importance to the London economy, the London Development Agency is working with Islington Council to develop a package of regeneration programmes focussed on creating employment and training opportunities for local people, supporting business growth, influencing the physical environment and tackling crime.
