The new Arsenal 60,000 seat stadium is one of the largest regeneration projects in London which will also see a wider development that includes a new waste recycling plant, 2,000 new homes, a new health centre and nursery, 50,000m2 of business, commercial and leisure area, new green spaces along with road and public transport improvements.
A partnership between Islington Council and Newlon Housing, the lead social housing developer, along with Arsenal FC, the construction contractors, London Development Agency, London Metropolitan University, Hyde Housing local businesses and community groups has been set up to ensure that local communities enjoy the long-term economic, social and environmental benefits of the development.
