Islington has a thriving cultural sector, from the classic to the most modern.

Sadlers Wells- and the Lilian Baylis Theatre are a prime venue for a wide variety of performing arts in Islington.

Almeida Theatre - returned to its original Islington home in 2003 and now offers a varied series of productions. The theater is accessible and supportive of people with disability. It has infra-red and induction loop sound systems for deaf patrons, while providing wheelchair spaces, and aisle seats for guide dog owners.

Little Angel Theatre - has been a majpr force in puppetry and theatre since 1961. Last year they gave 579 performances to a total audience of over 63,000 children and adults. Their Education Programme works with schools, youth groups and Education Authorities and is a strategic plank in the theatre's ongoing work with children and young people.

Kings Head Theatre - is a 115 seater theatre situated in Islington's historic, 19th century King's Head pub. The theatre was founded in 1970 by the landlord (Dan Crawford) and is a key local theatre venue.

Tower Theatre Company - has been entertaining audiences in North London for over 70 years. They are a truly unique operation - the only full-time non-professional company in London playing in public theatres, staging some 18 productions a year.

Hen and Chickens - is a pub and theatre providing music, theatre, and comedy events in Islington.

Pleasance Theatre London - is a nine-year-old independent theatre just off the Caledonian Road in North London.

Islington Arts Factory - is the key local venue for dance, music and photography, and provides studio space, classes, and exhibitions.

       

The Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art opened in London in 1998. Its new home - a Grade II listed Georgian building - was restored with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and contains six galleries, an art library, cafe and bookshop.

Crafts Council - are the UK's national organisation for the promotion of contemporary crafts.

Byam Shaw School of Art - manages five courses focusing on Fine Art - Fine Art Foundation, Foundation Degree in Fine Art Skills and Practices, BA (Hons) Fine Art, Postgraduate Diploma Fine Art and MA Fine Art.

Clerkenwell Literary Festival - provide a wide range of events involving poetry and new literature. Community events are run in partnership with the Library.

Islington Academy is a key music venue for Islington with a fast moving programme of events.

MusicIslington - is a free public information website for everything to do with music in Islington.

ARTS Learning Partnership - is run by the Metropolitan University and supports art-based learning opportunities for hard to reach learners.

CANDID arts trust - has combined 23,000 square feet of Victorian warehouse space behind Angel tube, and provides 6,500 sqft of exhibition space, two loft-style galleries, and 20 artists studios, plus banqueting, conference and screening rooms, rehearsal spaces and a cafe.

SHAPE - enabling disabled musicians and improving access to music by disabled people.

vegout.info - promotes vegetarian Islington and its numerous veggie-friendly restaurants.
